The method involves directing an epilation device (6) on a skin (1), such that the hairs (2) on the skin are detected and plucked out from the skin. The skin is treated with a moisturizing lotion (4) before plucking the hairs from the skin. The moisturizing lotion retracts rapidly into the skin. The moisture content of the skin is increased within the area of hair roots (3) with the moisturizing lotion. An independent claim is also included for a use of a moisturizing substance for application on the skin to improve the effect of hair removal by an epilation device.
