Device for connecting a sail (4) to a mast (2) comprises spacer elements (15) provided between the mast and the luff (8). The spacer elements are structured to bring the luff from the drag when the sail is impinged with wind. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Rig comprising a mast and a sail; and (2) Spacer element used in the above device. Preferred Features: A mast fixing element connects the spacer element to the mast. The spacer element is connected to a spacer changing element between the mast fixing element and the luff.
