<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst and a hydrogen producing method using the catalyst capable of substantially suppressing carbon deposition and maintaining a high activity even if performing a hydrogen production reaction from a heavy hydrocarbon such as a kerosene as a raw material. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing hydrogen from a hydrocarbon wherein (a) an alumina and (b) an alkali metal oxide are supported by a carrier in a total amount of 2.5-10 mass% in terms of oxide and based on catalyst, and (d) a ruthenium is supported by (c) a clay or a clay mineral in an amount of 0.5-5 mass% in terms of oxide and based on the catalyst and a hydrogen producing method by reacting a hydrocarbon and steam under the presence of the catalyst, are disclosed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
