<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of precisely and discriminatingly detecting the humidity and the concentration of a gas to be detected, in a state of the gas which is to be detected, such as hydrogen, is mixed with atmospheric humid air. <P>SOLUTION: The concentration of the gas to be detected and the humidity are obtained respectively from a humidity correlation function which adopts as parameters a difference between normalized outputs and voltage across both ends of a heating element, when the minimum amount of current is applied, and from two humidity correction value correlation functions. Therefore, the humidity can be determined unambiguously, since the difference between the normalized outputs is in a proportional relation to the humidity, and as a result, the concentration of the gas to be detected can also be determined. Furthermore, since the temperature characteristics of the humidity correlation function and the two humidity correction value correlation functions which are caused by changes in thermal conductivity due to the temperature, are corrected by the voltage across both ends of the heating element, when the minimum amount of current is applied, the humidity and the concentration of the gas to be detected can be determined precisely. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
