摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte lithium ion second battery which has excellent cycle characteristic and can exhibit a high output. <P>SOLUTION: The non-aqueous electrolyte lithium ion second battery 5 includes an anode 61 having a compound containing lithium, a cathode 62 containing a cathode active substance in which potential changes with the insertion and desorption of Li, and a non-aqueous electrolyte which is made by dissolving the electrolyte in an organic solvent. The anode 61 contains a compound represented by a general formula of Li<SB>x</SB>Ni<SB>1-y</SB>M<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(wherein x is a value decreased by electric charge and increased by electric discharge as the anode active substance, 0&le;y&le;0.8, M is one type or more of metal element selected from the group composed of Co, Al, Mg and Mn).
