OPTICAL PICKUP APPARATUS HAVING OPTICAL DETECTION AREA FOR COMPENSATING TRACKING ERROR OFFSET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup apparatus detecting accurately a tracking/focus error signal for an optical disk having a different track pitch by compensating tracking error offset caused by deviation of an optical axis of an objective lens using light distribution of optical detection area in which the tracking error signal is not image-formed out of optical detection parts formed in an optical detection unit.

SOLUTION: As an existing DPP method is used base on a DVD-RAM disk, an angle of a side beam is adjusted and a tracking error of a RAM disk is detected, in the case of a DVD-ROM/±R/RW disk of which the track pitch is different, tracking error offset caused by deviation of the optical axis of the objective lens is compensated using light intensity distribution converged to the prescribed optical detection area in which the tracking error signal is not image-formed out of the optical detection parts instead of the DDP method.
