<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data compression device with reconciled advantages, such as improvement of processing speed and improvement of accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The compression device includes a block separation processing means for separating the image data to be compressed into two or more blocks, a class classification processing means for classifying the pixel, which belongs to each block separated in the block classification process, into two or more classes, a first coding processing means for forming a class map, which expresses the pixel belonging to each classified block, and subjecting the class map to data compression and encoding, a second coding processing means for subjecting a representative value, which represents each class, to data compression and encoding, and an integration processing means for sticking together the coded data of the class map and the data of the representative value into one data stream. Through a color conversion means for converting the RGB data of the RGB color image into a prescribed color-based color space, the image data to be compressed is subjected to color conversion, and then classification process for classifying the image data into two or more classes is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
