PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving force controller and a driving force control method for reducing the sense of incompatibility or the sense of displeasure of a driver in the congestion of a road on which its own vehicle is traveling. SOLUTION: This driving force controller for a vehicle is configured to make a deceleration control part 46 control the deceleration of its own vehicle according to a positional relation between its own vehicle and a front vehicle located ahead of its own vehicle at the time of detecting the deceleration will of the driver by an acceleration sensor 11 being a deceleration detecting means. This driving controller of the vehicle is provided with a congestion judging part 44 being a congestion judging means for judging the congestion of a road on which its own vehicle is traveling, and when it is judged that the congestion is high by the congestion judging part 44, the deceleration control part 46 makes it difficult to start the deceleration of its own vehicle, or makes it possible to reduce the change of the deceleration of its own vehicle.
