PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin and small self-reset type protective element of a self holding type, making current interruption continue for a fixed period of time from the time when abnormal heat is generated. SOLUTION: This self-reset type protective element has a substrate 2, a temperature maintaining part 3 provided on the substrate 2, a pair of lead terminals 4 which are provided on the temperature maintaining part 3 and connected to the temperature maintaining part 3, and the facing sides of which are mutually separated, a movable electrode 6 which is fixedly connected to one side of a pair of the lead terminals 4 and is separable from the other lead terminal 4, and a cover 10 to cover at least a part of the pair of the lead terminals 4, the movable electrode 6, and the temperature maintaining part 3, and is structured so that an electrode is divided on the surface where the temperature maintaining part 3 is connected to a pair of the lead terminals 4.
