PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high purity 4, 4'-bischloromethylbiphenyl. SOLUTION: The method of purifying 4, 4'-bischloromethylbiphenyl comprises cooling a mixture of 4, 4'-bischloromethylbiphenyl, an aliphatic hydrocarbon, and an aprotic polar solvent which are heated to 70°C-120°C and separating the formed crystals by filtration.
