PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rice cooking from failing by informing a user that the quantity of rice is not suitable for rice cooking in a rice cooker having a function of detecting the weight of food to be cooked in a pot. SOLUTION: A pot 12 is detechably housed in a rice cooker body with an open top surface, which is covered with a lid 20 in an openable and closable manner. A heating coil 13 for heating the pot 12 is controlled according to a heating program by a cooking control means 306. The weights of the pot 12 and the food to be cooked in the pot 12 are detected by a weight detection means 40. The quantity of rice is judged from the output signal of the detection means 40 with a request from a rice quantity measurement switch constituting a rice quantity defining means requesting defining of the quantity of rice. The criteria of the quantity of water optimal to the quantity of rice is displayed on an LED display part constituting the water quantity display means. When the quantity of rice detected by the detection means 40 is outside a prescribed range, the water quantity display means does not display the criteria of the optimal quantity of water.
