PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring system for competitive swimming which quickly specifies a measured time by using an assumed time in a swimming competition. SOLUTION: A timer 16 for competitive swimming measures a lap time or a finish time by responding to a touch signal which is fed from a touch board 11 aftaer starting a time counting. A time assuming device 18 assumes an assumption time by which a swimmer S reaches the touch board 11 from a lap time or the like which is fed from the timer 16 for competitive swimming. Then, when the lap time or the finish time is not fed from the timer 16 for competitive swimming even after the assumption time has passed, a soft touch generation signal is formed, and is fed to a video recording device 17. When the soft touch generation signal is fed, the video recording device 17 searches for the image at the moment when the swimmer S touches the touch board 11 from the assumption time from among recorded images.
