PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type endoscope which can secure an insertion capacity, can improve an observation function and is suitable for an endoscopic observation. SOLUTION: A capsule section 22 which is covered by a capsule-shaped package 31 is integrally disposed at a pointed head of a thin, long and soft insertion tube 21, and an illumination and imaging unit 40 having an illumination means and an imaging means is accommodated in a transparent pointed head cover 32 at a pointed head side of the above capsule section 22 to change an inclination angle freely and to turn freely so that the direction of an optical field can be changed. An air and water supply duct 25 and a suction duct 26 are inserted in the insertion tube 21 of which the pointed head side penetrates the inside of the capsule section 22 and is open at an outer surface of the capsule section 22 to execute the air and water supply, the suction or the like.
