PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extending the burning time of a fuel oil inexpensively and in excellent ignition, and to provide an antifrosting burning tool excellent in eliminating frosting damage. SOLUTION: The method for extending the burning time of the fuel oil is characterized by involving setting a nonflammable porous material between the uppermost layer surface of the fuel oil and the lowermost layer surface of flame in burning, under exposure to the atmosphere, where the fuel oil is held in a container with its top opened. The antifrosting burning tool comprises a container with its top opened, a fuel oil held in the container and a nonflammable porous material set above the uppermost layer surface of the fuel oil.
