<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economically advantageous manufacturing method of a high-density high-strength isotropic graphite material having a high coefficient of thermal expansion. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the isotropic graphite material, a pitch binder is compounded and kneaded with an aggregate ingredient which is a carbonaceous powder, the obtained kneaded product is pulverized, the obtained molding powder is subjected to isotropic forming, and the obtained molded product is baked, carbonized and graphitized. As the aggregate ingredient, crude coke is used, wherein the volatile content, the average particle size and the oxygen content are adjusted to 5 to 15 wt.%, 1-20 μm and 0.5-4.0 wt.%, respectively, through a heat-treatment at 100-500°C in air or an non-oxidizing atmosphere. Here, 40-150 pts.wt. pitch binder is compounded and kneaded with 100 pts.wt. crude coke, the obtained kneaded product is pulverized and subjected to particle size regulation, and the molding powder with a volatile content of 20-30 wt.%, an average particle size of 5-60 μm and an oxygen content of 0.5-4.0 wt.% is subjected to isotropic forming, baking, carbonization and graphitization. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
