PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording method and an image recording apparatus, capable of improving the quality of the image to be formed on a photosensitive material, by reducing the interference fringes of laser beams. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus constituted so as to form a photosensitive layer containing silver halide grains, of which the average grain size is≤0.1μm and a silver salt of an organic acid on a support body and scan and expose a silver halide heat developing photosensitive material, of which the light transmissivity in the average wavelength of laser light is≥20% andγis≥2 with/to laser light to form an image on the photosensitive material comprises: a laser light source for oscillating the laser light; a scanning optical system for scanning the surface of the silver halide heat developing photosensitive material with the laser light oscillated from the laser light source; and a laser light source control means for controlling the laser light source so as to switch the wavelength of the laser light oscillated from the laser light source in each prescribed number of scanning lines.
