PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of drivers by reducing the number of electrodes arrayed in one direction even when the number of pixels arrayed in the direction is extremely large in a passive matrix driving type display device. SOLUTION: In the passive matrix driving type display device constituted so that a plurality of scan electrodes R0, R1, R2, ... and a plurality of pixel electrodes C0, C1, C2, ... extended crossing these scan electrodes R0, R1, R2, ... are oppositely arranged in a matrix-like array state of mutual intersecting points and a pixel part is formed in each electrode intersecting point: the number of pixel electrodes C0, C1, C2, ... is prepared larger than the number of scan electrodes R0, R1, R2, ..., N pixel parts (PR1, PR2) mutually shifted in the array direction of the pixel electrodes ae formed among N (2≤N) adjacent scan electrodes (e.g. R0, R1) and one common pixel electrode (e.g. CO), and the one common pixel electrode CO is allowed to be sequentially selected N times correspondingly to N scan electrodes R0, R1 to be sequentially selected.
