PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot air type heater capable of generating an ion not only under combustion but also even during operation stop to realize a comfortable indoor environment. SOLUTION: This heater is provided with an ion generator 27 for generating the ion, by heating air sucked into an air duct by a fan 6, in a combustion part 7, to be diffused as a hot air, and a control part for controlling the fan 6 and the ion generator 27. The control part 40 drives the ion generator 27 to diffuse the ion containing air into an indoor room not only under the combustion in the combustion part but also after the combustion stop after the prescribed time of continuous combustion or in a tentative combustion interruption time under ambient temperature control, and an air cleaning action is operated all the time to realize the comfortable indoor environment.
