WIRELESS NETWORK DYNAMIC FREQUENCY SELECTION FOR RADAR INTERFERENCE AVOIDANCE

A central controller provides centralized dynamic frequency selection in a wireless network. The central controller scans periodically a certain frequency band used by wireless stations. Said frequency band is also the same one used by radar signals, i.e. bands in the 5.15 - 5.75 GHz spectrum. Since wireless stations can transmit and receive in the same frequency spectrum as radar signals, interference can occur. The central controller by analysing said spectrum abtains information on radar-free channels and on occupied channels. Said information is stored and maintained in its database. The wireless stations are informed about a dynamic frequency selection, which could imply that the wireless stations have to move (switch over) to a new, interference-free channel.
