The invention relates to a water purification method for consuming recovered water containing, in particular pathogenic microorganisms, consisting i) in adding a given quantity of strong base into the recovered water in such a way that pH equal to or greater than 11.5 is obtained; ii) in allowing a mixture to stand a sufficient time for killing microorganisms and obtain a solid fraction sedimentation; iii) in separating the liquid fraction of the mixture and iv) in adding a given quantity of acid into said liquid fraction in such a way that a neutral pH, wherein the base and acid are selected such that a soluble salt in the liquid fraction in the form of a purified water is assimilated by a human organism.
