The present invention is to a filter plate and a collection system having an upper filter plate and a lower collection plate. Each has two or more wells in register with each other. The filter plate has an underdrain containing a spout. The spout is offcenter of the centerpoint of the wells between which it resides. The spout is close to at least one wall of the well of the collection device but set off from that wall by a distance sufficient to ensure easy assembly and disassembly of the devices without contact or damage of the spout with the well of the collection device. In this manner, any drop that begins to form contacts the adjacent well wall and travels down it into the collection device. <IMAGE>
