PROCESS FOR HYDROPHILIZING SURFACES OF FLUIDIC COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS

Sample-contacting surfaces, particularly of plastics components, which: - (a) are physically/chemically prepared e.g. by electric discharge gas-plasma treatment; - (b) are contacted with a solution of hydrophilic polymer e.g. polyether polyurethane in organic solvent; - (c) allow gas displacement of liquid to leave a wet surface; - (d) allow removal of solvent by natural or vacuum drying, leaving a 0.01-50, preferably 0.01-5 micron thick film. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for analytical apparatus having sample-wetted surfaces coated with hydrophilic polymer.
