The composite button for starting a machine may be formed as a virtual button on a computer touch screen. It may have a central circular zone (6) which may be touched to give starting signal, surrounded by an annular activation inhibiting zone (7). A variety of different formats may be used, including separate buttons and a numerical keyboard. The touch screen starting system may be connected to a control computer by a cable.
