An elevator apparatus comprises a car having first and second hoisting cable connection parts. In the upper portion of the hoistway, first and second car return pulleys are disposed above the first and second hoisting cable connection parts. The hoisting cable group includes a first hoisting cable passing around the first car return pulley and connected to the first hoisting cable connection part and a second hoisting cable passing around the second car return pulley and connected to the second hoisting cable connection part. A drive apparatus and the first and second car return pulleys are installed above the car in such a way the drive apparatus and the first and second car return pulleys are superimposed on the car in the vertical projection plane. |
