The invention concerns a procedure for the operation of a high-pressure discharge lamp with a periodically running, bipolar supply current and a given electrical power. After the zero crossing of the supply current, additional electrical power is fed to the high-pressure discharge lamp in periodic recurring time intervals, in order to stabilize the lamp operation, whereby the time averaged total output corresponds to the given electrical power. |
