<p>PURPOSE: Provided is a novel method for preparing iodixanol which is used as a nonionic X-ray contrast medium, to improve yield and purity and to reduce cost, and a compound useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of iodixanol. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of preparing a compound represented by the formula 3 from the 5-aminoisophthalic acid represented by the formula 2 by acylation; converting the amino group of the compound of the formula 3 into an acetylamino group to prepare a compound represented by the formula 4; reacting the compound of the formula 4 with 2,2-dimethyloxolane-3-methylamine to prepare a compound represented by the formula 6; and reacting the compound of the formula 6 with 3-dichloro-2-propanol and deprotecting the acetonide protecting group to prepare the iodixanol represented by the formula 1.</p> |
