[Also in Division G5] A non-magnetic, but preferably ferrite component, 1, channelled and grooved as Fig. 1, has a number of channel-shaped magnetic ferrite members, Fig. 2, cemented into grooves 3 with a high-melting-point enamel; the surfaces 6 and all the upstanding surfaces of the component 1 are ground flush; the assembly is cut along B-B; and the two halves are jointed with a lower-melting-point enamel, 1a to 1b to form the core assembly for a multi-track magnetic head. The first cementing areas may be increased by sloping the inner wall 8, Fig. 3. The ends of the component 1 may be provided with walls 9, Fig. 4, pairs of the Fig. 4 members thus providing a two-track head assembly, closed at its ends. Grooves 7 may also be provided to accommodate inter-track screening plates (of unspecified type) which may be cemented in. |
