PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter capable of reducing noise without using an SAW filter being difficult to be made into an IC and corresponding to two modulation systems such as constant amplitude modulation and non-constant amplitude modulation, and a small and low-cost mobile communication terminal using the same. SOLUTION: The transmitter is provided with an orthogonal modulator 111 for modulating an input signal by orthogonal modulation, a first amplifier 201 for amplifying a modulation signal outputted by the modulator 111, and a second amplifier 109 for power-amplifying the output signal of the first modulator 201. The first amplifier 201 operates as a limiter when the modulation system is the constant amplitude modulation, and performs linear operation when the modulation system is the non-constant amplitude modulation.
