PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording control method of an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus capable of recording a signal onto a disk by using an optical pickup. SOLUTION: The recording method employs a recording buffer memory 15 for temporarily storing a recording signal transmitted from a host device, retries the movement of the optical pickup 4 when the movement to a recording start sector cannot normally be executed in the case of the movement of the optical pickup 4 to the recording start sector on the basis of a recording start instruction, detects the amount of the recording signal stored in the recording buffer memory 15 when the retrial is carried out, and revises the recording start position to a succeeding sector when the amount of the detected recording signal exceeds a prescribed amount.
