PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous liquid absorbent containing water-absorbing resin particles and being suitable for applications to sanitary materials. SOLUTION: The absorbent contains water-absorbing resin particles obtained by polymerization of a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer and having an internal cross-linked structure and has an absorption rate(FSR) of≥0.2g/g/s, a water absorption rate(CRC) of 5-25 g/g, a saline flow induction(SFC) of≥400×10<SP>-7</SP>cm<SP>3</SP>×s/g and a wet porosity of≥20%. The method of obtaining the absorbent comprises forming a hydrated gel from an aqueous monomer solution comprising a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer and at least 0.2 mol%, based on the amount of the monomer, of an internal cross-linking agent and pushing out the gel from a porous structure of a pore diameter of 0.3-6.4 mm.
