The invention relates to a cartridge pistol (1) comprising a cartridge holde r (3) with springing gripper elements (17), a displaceable piston rod (4) for moving a piston in a cartridge (10) and an actuation device for displacing t he piston rod (4). The cartridge holder (3) comprises a cylindrical base (12) f or receiving the bottom area of a cartridge (10) wherein the gripper elements (17) protrude radially from the centre of the cartridge holder (3) outwards in the direction of the housing into an annular groove (14) of the base (12) as far as the outer wall of the annular groove (14) in the base (12) and are maintained in the centre of the base (12) by means of a hub (16). Means (5,2 5) are provided on the front end of the piston rod. Said means are used to pres s the ends of the springing gripper elements (17) in the direction of the housing (7) when the piston rod (4) is fully retracted in order to release t he cartridge for withdrawal.
