摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphite grain appropriate to a high-capacity lithium secondary battery excellent in quick charge and discharge characteristics, a graphite paste appropriate to the high-capacity lithium secondary battery excellent in the quick charge and discharge characteristics and cycle characteristic, a negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery appropriate to the high-capacity lithium secondary battery excellent in the quick charge and discharge characteristics and cycle characteristic, and a lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The graphite grain (precluding the graphite grain containing boron, B<SB>4</SB>C, BN or boron oxide at 3 to 20 wt.% as boron) wherein the size of the crystallite of the graphite grain in the c-axis direction (thickness direction) of the crystal in X-ray wide-angle diffraction is 1,000 to 10,000 &angst; and the size of the crystallite in the face direction is 800 to 50 &angst;. The graphite paste is prepared by adding and mixing an organic binder and a solvent to and with the graphite grain. The negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery is constituted by applying and integrating the graphite paste to a collector.
