<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely increase the output of a fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell system is provided with a membrane electrode junction 10, a hydrogen supply means such as a hydrogen cylinder 2 or the like, and an air supply means such as a blower 3 or the like. The membrane electrode assembly 10 has an electrolyte layer 11, an air electrode 13 joined to one side of the electrode layer 11, and a hydrogen electrode 12 joined to the other side of the electrolyte layer 11. A Pt-Fe alloy having both catalytic action and magnetic action is carried by the air electrode 13.
