<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable gas sensor capable of forming electric continuity between an inner circumferential surface electrode and a terminal member of a gas detecting element while holding the terminal member of the gas detecting element with an appropriate pressing force. <P>SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor 10 has a hollow tubular form having a closed tip part and an open rear end part and extended in an axial direction along its axis and includes both an oxygen detecting element 20 having an inner electrode layer 23 in its inner circumferential surface 22 and the terminal member 30 in contact with and electrically conducting to the inner electrode layer 23. The terminal member 30 includes pressure welding parts 34c and 34d for making the oxygen detecting element 20 hold the terminal member 30 itself by being pressure-welded to the inner circumferential surface 22 of the oxygen detecting element 20 and a conduction part 35b for conducting to the inner electrode layer 23 by being pressure-welded to the inner electrode layer 23 of the inner circumferential surface 22 of the oxygen detecting element 20.
