PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of reading an image by separately setting a read mode matching with the image to the front and rear of a document. SOLUTION: The image reader comprises a read mode setting means for separately setting the read mode to each of the front and rear of the document, and an image processing means for processing the image by reading and scanning each image on the front and rear of the document according to the read mode set by the read mode setting means.
