PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze a high molecular weight material, having a sugar chain with high accuracy by removing a low molecular weight saccharide in a sample. SOLUTION: A method for analyzing the high molecular weight material in the sample, containing the high molecular weight material having the sugar chain and the low molecular weight saccharide, is provided. In this method, the sample is applied to a sugar chain analyzer, after removing the low molecular weight saccharide from the sample. Preferably, the low molecular weight saccharide is removed by ultrafiltering the sample, or making a low molecular weight saccharolytic enzyme act on the sample to decompose the low molecular weight saccharide, or making a low molecular weight saccharide capturing reagent act on the sample in a low molecular weight saccharide removal process. The sugar chain of a high molecular weight material can be analyzed with high accuracy, by performing analysis, such as mass analysis, using the sample from which low molecular weight saccharide is removed.
