PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument, easily and inexpensively manufactured for easily measuring the size of a member having a pair of groove parts facing each other and a measurement part in a direction substantially orthogonal to a line together joining the groove parts, just like a trolley wire, etc. SOLUTION: This measuring instrument is equipped with a fixed frame 10 comprising an engagement part 11 engaging with one groove part 7, a movable arm 20 comprising a sandwiching part 22 turnably provided on the fixed frame for sandwiching a trolley wire 3 while contacting with the other groove part 8 or its vicinity, a toggle clamp mechanism 30 for biasing the movable arm in a direction that brings the sandwiching part close to the engagement part, and a micrometer head 44 provided on the fixed frame 10 and having a spindle contacting with a contact part 6.
