PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a winding shaft where something like bend line is not generated after the second round in taking up a narrow width band material. SOLUTION: In the winding shaft A for taking up the narrow width band material, a tip end insertion groove 3 biting and fixing the tip end part 6S of the narrow width band material 6 formed by slitting the narrow width band material 7 to be fed is formed in the longitudinal direction. The step between a take-up side circular arc outer surface 121 of the winding shaft A continuing to the tip end insertion groove 3 and an opposite side circular arc outer surface 2b of the winding shaft A becomes high by the thickness W of the narrow width band material 6.
