PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk which realizes a high recording density of 100 Gbit/inch<SP>2</SP>and has a high S/N ratio. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk 100 has at least a first alloy layer 4 and a second alloy layer 5 including hexagonal closest packing structure in this order on a disk-shaped glass substrate 1 and further has a magnetic recording layer 7 on the second alloy layer 5 via a nonmagnetic bonding layer 6. The first alloy layer 4 comprises an alloy which contains Cr (chromium), an element A which performs a complete solid solution with Cr (chromium) and an element B which forms a compound having body centered cubic structure with Cr (chromium). In this case, the film of the alloy, in which the element A content of the alloy is 7-25 atom% and the element B content is 1-15 atom%, is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
