PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately hold a traveling line of a timing chain, while easily incorporating a chain guide into an engine. SOLUTION: The timing chain 27 is extended to a driving side sprocket 26a fixed to a crankshaft 12 and a driven side sprocket 26b fixed to a camshaft 23. The timing chain 27 is arranged in a chain chamber 29. A guide installing surface 67 extending along the tension side 27a of the timing chain 27, is formed in a cylinder 14. A chain guide 65 is installed in the cylinder 14 by engaging engaging parts 71 and 72 of both end parts with projection parts 68 and 69 being a fitting part formed in the cylinder 14.
