PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide machine parts and a bearing in which carbides can be finely dispersed at high density while reducing the number of stages in heat treatment. SOLUTION: A roller (rolling element) 11 is formed of a steel stock comprising≥0.6 wt% C. The roller 11 comprises a carbon-enriched layer 11a formed on the surface layer of the steel stock.
