IMAGE CODING METHOD, IMAGING APPARATUS, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding method that enables a user to easily designate a target region in a captured image and can change the amount of code in the designated target region and in a residual one, and to provide an imaging apparatus and a computer program.

SOLUTION: The image coding method includes a target region designation process for designating the target region in the captured image displayed on a display unit 102 in the imaging apparatus; a position information acquisition process for acquiring the position information of the target region; a compressibility setting process for changing compressibility in the target region and that in the residual one, based on the position information for setting; and a coding process for performing each coding in the target and residual regions, based on the compressibility.
