<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of elongating life of a stack. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The fuel cell system 1 is provided with a stack 2 structured by laminating a plurality of units 4 made by laminating a plurality of cell, an outer circuit control device 23 selecting any one or more units out of the plurality of units 4 constituting the stack as power generating units 4A and electrically connecting only the selected generating units, a fuel gas supply part 29 supplying fuel gas only to the generating units 4A.
