<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain skew amount showing the inclination of the axial direction of an image carrier in the axial direction of a transfer means with simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of pattern images 40 and 42 is formed to be located at different positions in the main scanning direction and a subscanning direction on the image carrier 20Y rotating at predetermined speed, and each of a pair of pattern images 40 and 42 formed on the image carrier 20Y is transferred to an intermediate transfer body 24 by a transfer device 26Y. Detection waveform, showing the variation of a current value at such a transfer time, which corresponds to each of the pattern images 40 and 42, is outputted to an image processing part 12. The difference in the variations of the current value at transferring of each of the pattern images 40 and 42 to the intermediate transfer body 24 from the current value before starting the transfer is obtained as the skew amount, showing the inclination of the axial direction 50 of the image carrier 20Y and the axial direction 52 of the transfer device 26Y. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
