PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a (poly)oxyalkylene (meth)acrylate which can be easily derived into a water-soluble vinyl polymer having a sharp molecular weight distribution and a high water solubility. SOLUTION: The method for producing the (poly)oxyalkylene (meth)acrylate is one comprising producing a (meth)acrylic acid of a (poly)oxyalkylene compound by esterifying (meth)acrylic acid with a (poly)oxyalkylene compound, wherein the content of (meth)acrylic acid dimer in the (meth)acrylic acid is 1 wt.% or smaller. It is desirable that the (poly)oxyalkylene compound is a 1 to 20C active hydrogen compound/alkylene oxide adduct in which the moles of addition is 3 to 300 per mole of the alcohol.
