PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a melanogenesis promoter a skin care preparation composition for external use containing the promoter as the effective component, to prepare a hair cosmetic for ameliorating canities, and to obtain an acquired depigmentation (vitiligo) prophylactic and/or treating agent. SOLUTION: The melanogenesis promoter is composed of a compound represented by formula (I) (wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6are each H, hydroxy group, a 1-4C alkyl group, a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl group, or a 1-4C alkoxy group).
