PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent with a coating film which imparts the adsorption capabilities by complexing the adsorbent, while the conventional adsorbent has not such capabilities and can remove substances (for example, humus polar substances and the like in activated carbon), which can not be eliminated by the conventional adsorbent, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The adsorbent with the coating film is obtained by dissolving a polymeric material to form a film in a solvent having high affinity with it and preparing a solution containing the polymeric material, subsequently immersing the granular adsorbent comprised of a porous solid in the polymeric material containing solution and then integrally depositing the film of the polymeric material on the surface of the porous wall of the porous solid by drying after withdrawing the adsorbent from the polymeric material containing solution.
