<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a print image by making a marginal region inconspicuous which is generated at the end of recording paper for transportation, and impossible to be printed. <P>SOLUTION: When printing on recording paper P1 of an L-size, image data are developed in an image memory to form the marginal regions of prescribed lengthes at both front and back ends of the recording paper P1 in a transportation direction (S11). The image data in a border region of the marginal region are applied with gradation process (S12), and print data are created based on the image data (S13).
