<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a webbing winding device in which the rotation only from a motor side can be transmitted to a winding shaft by a clutch, and in addition, the miniaturization and the weight reduction of the clutch are performed, and at the same time, the assembling property is improved. <P>SOLUTION: In the clutch of this webbing winding device, a load from a spring claw 182 is applied to a gear wheel 116 of the clutch main body section 114 in the peripheral direction through a peripheral direction load receiving section 120. Therefore, the increase of the rigidity of the gear wheel 116 due to the assumption of load applied in the radial direction of the gear wheel 116 from the spring claw 182 is not required. Thus, the miniaturization and the weight reduction of the clutch 100 can be performed. In addition, a ring 176 of the clutch main body section 114 integrally has a cover section 178 which holds respective clutch constituent members at specified assembling positions, and the spring claw 182 for a "load limiter mechanism", and is constituted in a manner to be integrally held by a rotor 124 with the elastic force of the spring claw 182.
