摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize start acceleration of follow-up travel that does not give a sense of incongruity to a driver. <P>SOLUTION: The initial target value and change rate proportional to the relative speed of a command throttle opening of one's own vehicle 1 based on the detection of the relative speed of a preceding vehicle are calculated by starting of the follow-up travel of the own vehicle 1. After the command throttle opening is increased and varied to an opening of the initial target value at the gradient of the change rate and the own vehicle 1 is started to move, the command throttle opening is updated so that the detection inter-vehicle distance is a target inter-vehicle distance based on the deviation of the detection inter-vehicle distance between the own vehicle 1 and the preceding vehicle from the target inter-vehicle distance of the follow-up travel and the relative speed.
